How many teams have been to the World Series in the last 10 years?
In the last 10 years, 15 teams have been to the World Series, which is exactly half of all Major League Baseball teams. Those teams are as follows:
- Anaheim Angels (2002)
- Arizona Diamondbacks (2001)
- Atlanta Braves (1999)
- Boston Red Sox (2004, 2007)
- Chicago White Sox (2005)
- Colorado Rockies (2007)
- Detroit Tigers (2006)
- Florida Marlins (2003)
- Houston Astros (2005)
- New York Mets (2000)
- New York Yankees (1999, 2000, 2001, 2003)
- Philadelphia Phillies (2008)
- San Francisco Giants (2002)
- St. Louis Cardinals (2004, 2006)
- Tampa Bay Rays (2008)
It bears repeating: half of all Major League Baseball teams have played in the World Series in the past 10 years. No other major sport can boast this many teams in its championship in the past ten years.

Yeah, but it bears mentioning that the NFL has had 14 different teams in the past 10 Super Bowls, and 16 in the last 11. [Focusing on "half" isn't a fair comparison because one has 30 teams and the other has 32.] Basically, the NFL loses by one solely due to the “dynasty” that has been the Patriots.
No, this doesn’t contradict your post, but it’s not like the NFL hasn’t had a similar level of parity over the past decade or so. [Years below are the year the Super Bowl occurred, not the year of the regular season.]
Arizona Cardinals (2009)
Baltimore Ravens (2001)
Carolina Panthers (2004)
Chicago Bears (2007)
Indianapolis Colts (2007)
New England Patriots (2002, 2004, 2005, 2008)
New York Giants (2001, 2008)
Oakland Raiders (2003)
Philadelphia Eagles (2005)
Pittsburgh Steelers (2006, 2009)
Seattle Seahawks (2006)
St. Louis Rams (2000, 2002)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2003)
Tennessee Titans (2000)
Atlanta Falcons (1999)
Denver Broncos (1999)

While the number and percentage of teams that made it to the final game of the season in the NFL and MLB is comparable, the NFL is widely regarded as having more competitive parity. But the truth is that Major League Baseball has just as much competitive parity as any professional sports league.
